Due to salary cap issues, the Chiefs were unable to keep L’Jarius Sneed in the roster – a painful loss.
Watching one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks leave your team must not be easy. The Kansas City Chiefs have gone through this difficult time following the departure of L’Jarius Sneed.
He has agreed to a massive deal with the Tennessee Titans. The 27-year-old champion has signed a contract worth $76 million over four years.
However, before the trade, Sneed made just over $5.5 million during his rookie contract. Once he was placed on franchise tag, he was expected to earn $19.8 million for the 2024 season.
Now he joins a promising, talented squad. Should the Titans’ new additions get along well on and off the field, they could be a surprise this season. Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard and Chidobe Awuzie are some of the reinforcements.
Sneed leaves Kansas City with two Super Bowl titles and a lot of love from his teammates and coaches.

Sneed’s relationship with Andy Reid
At the league’s annual meeting, coach Andy Reid was obviously asked about the cornerback’s move to Tennessee and expressed his respect and admiration for the player.
“[He is] one of my all-time favourite guys. Great human being. As great a player as he is, he’s an even better human being. As tough as you can imagine. I’m his biggest fan.”
“He was our lockdown guy. Every best receiver, he had the best receiver.”
Reid also made it clear that the only reason why the Chiefs had to part ways with Sneed was beacause of the salary cap: “You juggle the salary cap, it’s ridiculous what you have to go through.”
“The players you can keep and the players you can’t keep. But we all loved him and that wasn’t the problem.”
Under the terms of the trade, the Titans send a 2025 third-round pick to Kansas City, as well as the exchange of seventh-round picks in the 2024 Draft.
Sneed’s exit didn’t come as a huge surprise to the Chiefs Kingdom. That’s because the options to replace him are quite good and there’s no reason for fans who are also obsessed with the three-peat to worry.
