One of the brains behind the Chiefs’ NFL success over the past 11 seasons added another incredible feat to his resume on Sunday.
A 31-17 victory for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders was the 125th all-time for head coach Andy Reid in the regular season with this team.
That makes Reid the winningest regular-season coach in team history, surpassing Hank Stram (124).
For a while, it was looking like that record would have to wait a week, with KC trailing the Raiders by 14 points in the early stages.
The offense woke up late in the opening half, though thanks in part to a well-executed flea flicker trick play drawn up by Reid, which wound up being a massive completion from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce.
Reid had seen his team fail to score any points in the second half in three successive weeks before Sunday when they had 17 in the final two quarters, three more than in the opening 30 minutes.
That victory is another feather in Reid’s cap and yet another argument as to why he’s probably the greatest coach in Chiefs’ history.
Reid’s achievements since taking over a team in crisis following a 2-14 campaign in 2012 are incredible, but also not the only record he set on Sunday.
Reid’s Twofer
It feels like ages ago, but there was a time when Reid was a mainstay on the Philadelphia Eagles sidelines.
That was his first NFL head coaching job, and just like in KC, it was highly successful from his inaugural campaign in 1999.
In 14 regular seasons as Eagles boss, Reid racked up a record of 130-93-1, the most in Eagles history per Pro Football References.
That makes Reid the winningest coach in the regular season for both the Chiefs and Eagles, with the Los Angeles native becoming the first NFL head oach to achieve such a unique feat.

Collins Dictionary defines the word twofer as a person who can satisfy two quotas.
In Philadelphia and Kansas City, Reid’s not only met his quota more often than not, he’s exceeded it repeatedly.
Combining his postseason totals for both the Eagles and Chiefs, Reid also has the most victories for both franchises all-time (140 in the regular season and playoffs for Philly and 137 combined with KC).
What’s left for the KC coach
Reid’s 22 wins are the second-most among NFL head coaches in the playoffs, behind only Bill Belichick (31).
He’ll need a few more playoff runs to match the great Patriots coach, but there are other feats which Reid has that other coaches haven’t matched.
Reid’s the only NFL coach to guide two teams to four successive conference championship games (2001-2004 with the Eagles and 2018-2022 for KC).
Meanwhile his 277 combined victories in the regular season and playoffs put him fourth on the all-time list behind George Halas, Belichick, and Don Shula.
Under Reid, the Chiefs have an incredible 125-47 record in the regular season, a winning percentage of .727.
