The Kansas City Chiefs are in play for wide receiver Tee Higgins, according to a former NFL pro.

For any wide receiver entering Free Agency shortly, there is one phone call they want to receive, a show of interest from the Kansas City Chiefs.

This past season Patrick Mahomes managed to lead the Chiefs to Super Bowl success, despite sub-par wide receiver play.

The only exception was the breakout performances of Rashee Rice, a rookie.

This off-season the Chiefs are expected to look at strengthening the wide receiver group, especially amid expectations Kadarius Toney has no further part to play in Kansas City.

Watch Tee Higgins to Kansas City Chiefs, says former pro

One of the most sought after wide receivers in Free Agency will be the Cincinnati Bengals’ Tee Higgins.

Higgins has 24 touchdowns in four seasons with the Bengals, and two 1,000 yard seasons.

Speaking to ESPN, former NFL defensive end Marcus ‘Swagu’ Spears says he believes the Chiefs will be in play for Higgins, along with the Carolina Panthers.

Spears said confidently: “Remember I said this, the Kansas City Chiefs may be in play for Tee Higgins.”

He also added that he if he were the Bengals, he would not want to let Higgins leave.

He said: “Cincinnatti can’t let Tee Higgins walk out the building, not only for his production but for the continuity they have created.”

Higgins has played a part in the Bengals’ previous jousts with the Chiefs. If he were to leave Ohio and ditch quarterback Joe Burrow, to join Patrick Mahomes, it would be a hammer blow for the AFC North team.

The Bengals have two top wide receivers, Higgins and J’Marr Chase.

However, speaking in the same ESPN segment, NFL inside Adam Schefter warned the Bengals could try to block his departure.

Schefter said: “I think they’d like to figure out a way to retain him if possible, and that could include the Franchise Tag.”

This one may be a long shot then, but if Higgins does leave, keep a real eye on Kansas City, for a move which could shake up the the NFL
